Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz believes the 'Boro defence is to blame for conceding three goals to Bolton on the weekend.

The Austria international admitted the defensive team were down on usual performances.

"To concede three at home should not happen, on the defensive side it wasn't good enough and it was all the defence's fault," Pogatetz said.

"The defence has played well in recent games but we were to blame. It should never happen to concede three at home.

"I blame myself for that third goal, I take full responsibility for it and it was poor defending on my part. I should have one better.

"In fact the whole afternoon I wasn't at my best but it's how I react that counts. I have to work hard to get back into my normal form."
