Deco admits he's been taken aback by the passion of Chelsea's fans.
"I liked Fan Day and was surprised how many people were there, taking their holidays to see us! I think it is good because the Chelsea fans are so enthusiastic for the team and the coach and new players, it is good for us and we have to do our best in the games for them."
That work begins on Sunday when we entertain Portsmouth in a lunchtime kick-off, and the midfielder is looking forward to pulling on the blue jersey for the first time in a competitive fixture.
"Yeah, I am excited because it will be a good experience," the number 20 said. "We have had many training sessions and pre-season games, which have been very good.
"I had a little problem last week but now I am okay. I want to start well at Chelsea, and make sure we win."
