De Jong confident Newcastle will soon put pieces together

Siem De Jong has full confidence that Newcastle United will soon manage to turn things around.

The Magpies have endured a torrid start to their campaign so far and are now currently languishing in 19th position following a winless run of six matches.

Many are fearing the worst for Newcastle this season but attacking midfielder De Jong has full belief that the Magpies will get back on track within the next few weeks.

De Jong told the Chronicle: "Everyone believes we can do it. It's just a matter of putting the pieces together. At one point it's going to fit and we're going to get the results. It's always difficult at the beginning of the season with a new manager and new players.

"Sometimes it fits straight away, and sometimes it takes a few weeks. Wednesday is an important game as well. We want to progress in the cup and we want everybody in – the players that played and the players that didn't play. We need to be strong and we need to focus on that now."
