DC United targeting Conference title at a minimum - Rolfe

DC United veteran Chris Rolfe has laid down the gauntlet for the club ahead of the 2015 MLS season.

The Black-and-Red produced the most startling turnaround in MLS history when taking out the Eastern Conference title last year after finishing bottom of the table, some 10 points off their nearest rivals in 2013.

DC won three matches that campaign before completely turning around their fortunes with the third best record in the competition in 2014 and striker Rolfe is hoping that is only the start of things to come for Ben Olsen's side.

"We have a team that's coming back that's now very familiar with each other. We've added a couple pieces that are adjusting nicely already," Rolfe said in an interview with MLSsoccer.com.

"So by no means should we put the bar any lower than Eastern Conference champions again, and I think we let ourselves down in the playoffs last year, so our goal has to be better in that regard and we want to bring a championship back to DC in some form."

Former Chicago Fire star Rolfe scored six goals in 23 regular season appearances last term and insists he is just looking to contribute to the cause in the new campaign.

"And for me personally, it's just continue to improve and help the team as best I can, wherever I'm needed this year," he added.
