DC United have signed Australian striker Danny Allsopp on a two-year deal.
The 31-year old Melbourne-born Allsopp recently left Qatari club Al-Rayyan, ending his contract prematurely, and will now saddle up with United in MLS.
Allsopp embarked on a journey to England back in 1998, joining Manchester City, where he had loan spells with Notts County, Wrexham and Bristol Rovers, before moving onto Notts County permanently and then Hull City where he was a prolific scorer.
in 2005, he returned home to play in the A-League with the Melbourne Victory and continued his brilliant goalscoring form, netting 36 times in 89 appearances over four seasons.
He won two A-League championships with the Victory and was the competition's top scorer in the 2006/07 season.
His signing was a positive move according to DC United general manager Dave Kasper.
"He's an athletic forward with a nose for the goal who will complement our other attacking players," said Kasper.
