DC United release statement regarding goalkeeper Wicks

DC United has released a statement regarding goalkeeper Josh Wicks who was sent off in Wednesday night's US Open Cup final.

The 25-year old shot-stopper was given a straight red card for stomping on Seattle Sounders' Fredy Montero's arm in the 69th minute and his ejection made it extremely difficult for his side to come back from a goal down.

"D.C. United team executives and technical staff met today with Josh Wicks. During the meeting, it was expressed that his behavior in last night's U.S. Open Cup final was unacceptable and that he will be subject to internal discipline," the statement read.

Wicks was also involved in a heated exchange with teammate Marc Burch in a MLS match recently.
