DC United keeper Cronin suffers broken wrist

DC United goalkeeper Steve Cronin sustained a broken wrist when he fell at training on Tuesday.

The 27-year old was acquired by DC from expansion franchise Portland in a deal which saw Troy Perkins join the Timbers and will now spend several weeks on the sidelines.

The Washington club have been holding their pre-season camp in Fort Lauderdale, Florida which is where the injury occurred.

Former LA Galaxy gloveman Cronin, who spent time on loan with DC in 2009, will not require surgery. In other injury news for the club, midfielder Junior Carreiro sprained his left ankle in the friendly match against Florida International University. The 19-year-old Brazilian will undergo an MRI upon return to Washington.
