Dawson: Hull City intent on securing safety ASAP

Michael Dawson has stated that Hull City are looking to allay fears of relegation as soon as possible.

After flirting around the relegation zone for the majority of the campaign, the Tigers managed to create some breathing space between themselves and the rest of the pack in recent times with a fine run of only one defeat in their last six Premier League matches.

However, Hull's 0-0 draw against Leicester allied by Burnley's shock win over Manchester City has meant that the gap between the Tigers and the bottom three has been reduced to only three points.

Therefore, it would be naïve to state that Hull are safe already and the threat of relegation still looms large.

Now, defender Michael Dawson has moved to suggest that Hull were disappointed to have only managed a draw against Leicester but insisted that the Tigers are intent on securing Premier League safety as soon as possible.

Speaking to the club's official website, Dawson said: "All we can do is take care of ourselves. Saturday (against Leicester) was a chance for us to move well clear and we're disappointed we couldn't take it, although you'd take a point after going down to ten men.

"We don't want to be looking over our shoulder - that maybe changes the way that you play. We want to get safe as soon as possible."
