Hull City skipper Curtis Davies says new assistant manager Mike Phelan is already having an influence.
The former Manchester United coach joined Hull last week.
Davies told the Hull Daily Mail: "Coming in straight away, his talk was good. He touched on the fact that he can't affect what's happened before.
"Everything that's gone on in the past, where we are in the league, he can't affect.
"He wants to help us moving forward. He wants to help the manager, with Berch (Keith Bertschin), with Clem (Stephen Clemence) and the players, to start getting results.
"He gave us that idea that if we jump on board with him, we can start getting better and moving up the league.
"The intensity to the training has been a little bit higher and the duration of training has been a little bit longer.
"Maybe the way he's used to doing it at Manchester United is about getting the fitness up and we can have that little extra edge. That might just be enough for us to leapfrog an opponent."
