Dalian Yifang striker Salomon Rondon has made it clear that he was ready to stay with Newcastle United this summer.
Rondon moved to the Chinese club after Rafael Benitez left Newcastle to take charge of Dalian Yifang.
“I was ready to stay at Newcastle if given a chance. But now I am happy in China," Rondon told the Evening Chronicle.
"Here is a completely different league, a completely different language, but this is a matter of adaptation.
"Benitez asked if I wanted to go to his team, and of course, I said yes. I knew him, his coaching staff, knew that he was counting on me.
"I have progressed. At Newcastle, he was able to get the most out of me, so I'm happy. Rafa gave me a chance, and I'm happy. I want to continue to grow."
