Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has warned against a backlash for Raheem Sterling after his controversial interview this week.
Dalglish wrote in the Mirror: "I hope Raheem Sterling gets a bit of understanding and sympathy after that interview about his future this week - understanding from people that he's just taking time out before making a decision.
"How many times do people get into trouble after just diving into something?
"Obviously, there has got to be a cut-off time at some point and he will have to decide, but it doesn't have to be now because his Liverpool contract is two and a half years away from expiring.
"The most important thing for me in his interview was when he said it's not about the money. If it is not about money, then it is about football."
