Kenny Dalglish suffered a major snub after being told he was never a contender for the Liverpool job, reports the Daily Mail. On the day Roy Hodgson was officially unveiled as the new manager, the Reds chairman Martin Broughton spoke on Dalglish's bid to make an incredible return to the hotseat.
Club ambassador Dalglish was asked to advise on Rafa Benitez's successor and put his own name forward.
Broughton said: "Kenny put his name in for the job and we appreciated the fact he wanted to do it but he was never a candidate. He is happy in his current ambassadorial role."
