Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish dedicated their 4-1 win over Chelsea to the fans.
Strikes from Jordan Henderson, Daniel Agger and Jonjo Shelvey added to Michael Essien's early own goal to cap a convincing performance from the Reds.
"It was an excellent performance," said the boss. "It's been seen a few times before here, but the result hasn't always been as positive as that. So the great thing for us is that the performance was matched by a result that they thoroughly deserved.
"Also, the fact that the supporters can get away from the last game of the season with a little bit of a smile on their faces is great. And I think that the way they stayed behind and showed their appreciation speaks volumes for them.
"I don't think there's any other place in the Premier League or elsewhere whose supporters would be there to show their appreciation like that.
"For us, we're just pleased, and the players are pleased, that we gave them the performance that they deserved. And that we put a smile on their faces."
