Dad reveals Newcastle keeper Freddie Woodman wanted by Man Utd, Arsenal

Newcastle United goalkeeper coach Andy Woodman is delighted with the progress of son Freddie.

Freddie Woodman is an England under-17 international at the age of 15 and been dubbed "the next Joe Hart".

Woodman Snr admits he questioned whether Freddie could turn pro with Newcastle while he worked at the club.

"They told me to forget who he is because they want the best 'keepers here," he told The Journal.

"It was a no-brainer from that point of view because this is a massive club, without a doubt. I think the real big thing that we thought about as a family - not just Freddie - is that he could have gone to Manchester United, he could have gone to Arsenal, he could have gone to Manchester City but the real big thing that really swayed us to Newcastle is that Newcastle's goalkeepers have come through the youth team."
