The father of Saul Niguez admits they were ready to leave Atletico Madrid last month.
Saul was outstanding in victory over Real Madrid and has been linked with Manchester United this week.
His father revealed: "Yes, yes, we thought about it, and we tried to leave the club because he wanted to continue the progression he had last season with Rayo.
"Logically he wanted out because we saw that he was not getting the minutes we thought we could have.
"But he who counts is the boss, and he says he must have patience, and the club alike. So we have stayed. He came out the other day and had a great game. The other day was key to the future of Saul."
