Curtis replaces Roxburgh as NYRB sporting director

New York Red Bulls have confirmed the appointment of Ali Curtis as the club's new sporting director.

36-year old Curtis replaces Andy Roxburgh at the Red Bull Arena after the Scotsman's contract expired at the culmination of the 2014 MLS season.

"Curtis will be responsible for all soccer activities at the club, including player acquisition and scouting, oversight of the coaching staff, technical staff and youth development as well as management of the soccer operations budget and salary cap," read a Red Bulls statement.

Curtis joins New York from the MLS head office where he served as senior director of player relations and competition.

As a player, Curtis spent four years in MLS with the Tampa Bay Mutiny in 2001, DC United in 2002/03 and Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas) in 2003/04.
