Cuper can't see Inter Milan collapsing

Hector Cuper can't see former club Inter Milan collapsing and surrendering the Scudetto this season.

Cuper's Inter were runaway leaders for much of the 2001-02 season but lost away to Lazio on the final day, allowing Juventus, who won at Udinese, to snatch the Scudetto from their grasp.

"As you can imagine, I don't willingly remember those months of my career, also because Calciopoli has demonstrated that the collapse wasn't entirely our own fault," Cuper told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Anyway I understand why you want to make the comparison, and I say with great certainty that this year Inter will not go through another May 5."

Inter lost 1-0 to Napoli on Sunday and are now just seven points ahead of Milan with five games remaining from now until the end of the season.

"I didn't see the Napoli game, but I do not consider it an alarm bell because the week before Inter practically won away to Juventus.

"Aside from conceding a late equaliser against the Bianconeri, Inter were in good physical condition and showed a better mentality. Mourinho has assembled a solid team," he explained.
