Real Madrid striker Javier Acuna is set to shun a proposed move to England in order to join Espanyol.
The 25-year old Paraguayan, who has been playing for Madrid's B side, was a target for promoted Premier League club Crystal Palace but will sign with Espanyol according to reports.
Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest were also believed to be keen on Acuna but Espanyol stepped up their interest and a deal could be completed by the end of the week.
