Crystal Palace fail with new offer for Lille defender Ibrahim Amadou

Crystal Palace have failed with a new offer for Lille defender Ibrahim Amadou.

The Sun says Palace had an offer of £16m rejected earlier this month, and it looks like the price will have to be raised even higher if they are to get their man.

Roy Hodgson has been stripped to the bare bones in defence with long-term injuries, most notably £26m signing Mamadou Sakho who is out with a serious calf problem.

The Eagles also lost veteran defender Scott Dann to a cruciate knee ligament injury during their 0-0 draw with Manchester City on New Years Eve.

Their long list of players on the sidelines has meant Hodgson is only left with James Tomkins, Damien Delaney and makeshift centre-half Martin Kelly.

Amadou's contract doesn't expire until 2020, but the French outfit may be forced to sell to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski has ended talk of a move to Crystal Palace.

The Pole has agreed a new deal to 2021 with Ipswich.

“Bartosz has agreed a new contract and we'll be signing that, he'll be our player for the next three years," said Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy.
