Crystal Palace determined to keep Man Utd target Clyne

Crystal Palace are hoping they can ward off any advances from Manchester United for promising full-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The 20-year old, who comes out of contract in the summer, has emerged as a target for the Red Devils in recent times but Eagles chairman Steve Parish is confident the young gun will agree to a new deal at Selhurst Park.

He did, however, admit that if United were to come in with a concrete offer, Palace would not try and stop a dream move for Clyne.

"We haven't agreed anything with anybody and we still have a contract offer on the table for Nathaniel," Parish told the London Evening Standard.

"We have a good relationship with both him and his agent and I think he is enjoying his football here and can see the club are going forward.

"But if there is a deal to be done with Manchester United, it would be hard to stand in the kid's way. If our young players are to leave, then at least we want them to go onto something bigger and better - and Manchester United are who they are.

"But he is playing brilliantly at the moment and is at a good place with the team and under Dougie Freedman's management.

"If he keeps on playing as he is then I'm sure that a lot of teams will be interested in signing him but we are working together here and it's all positive at the moment."
