Dario Gradi admitted he is hoping to tie up a deal for Tottenham striker Lee Barnard this week after Crewe misfired at home to Leyton Orient.

"The boys up there tried hard but they weren't timing their runs very well, and we need something else up front," Gradi said.

"We hope to tie up the loan deal with Lee Barnard this week and we are still looking at other striking options.

"It was a dull game and I never thought any team really looked like scoring but that's what happens. Ben was out of position for the goal but you don't expect him to hit it like that from there."
