Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is eager to strengthen ties with Stoke City.
Stoke youngster Jamie Ness has joined Crewe on-loan.
Davis told The Sentinel: "I don't see it so much as Stoke to Crewe but a good player from down the road.
"He (Ness) is worth bringing in because he's going to improve the squad and the team and add to the competition.
"It's not a problem for me, it is more about the quality of the player.
"There's not been a lot of dealings in the past (between the two clubs) but that is something we want to change.
"I know (Stoke City Chief Executive) Tony Scholes and Neil (Baker) knows a few down there so there is no reason for not having a good relationship.
"Mark Hughes has done a great job there and if there are players at Stoke that are available that will improve Crewe Alexandra, it's worth bringing them in."
