Joe Cole was unable to fire his new team Coventry City on his debut for the Sky Blues as they were held to a goalless draw at Rochdale on Tuesday.

Cole is on loan from Aston Villa and played just under an hour at Spotland Stadium but was unable to provide any decisive moments in breaking the deadlock.

However, Coventry fans will be excited by the flashes of quality that former West Ham United, Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Cole was able to show towards the end of the game, shooting narrowly wide and enjoying several weaving runs through the Rochdale defence.
