Former Coventry defender Richard Shaw, who chalked up over 300 first-team appearances in more than 10 years with the Sky Blues from 1995 to 2006, has been named as the League One club's new assistant to manager Andy Thorn.
"But it's not an appointment that's all about sentiment. Richard knows the game inside out and wants to come to help us move the club forward and he will be a big part of that.
"I obviously know him from my time at Crystal Palace and I trust him implicitly, which is vitally important, so I am just delighted to have him here at Coventry City again." "This is a great appointment for the club," Thorn told Coventry's official website. "Richard is Coventry City through and through and was granted a testimonial during his time here as a player.
