Fukuda was unveiled to local media and fans yesterday and declared: "I wanted to come here for many reasons. Las Palmas has a great history, fantastic fans and that has motivated me to come here. It's also important to be here for my family. My wife and two daughters are with me and there is a very large Japanese community on the island. This is helpful.

"When this team were in the Primera and I was living in Japan, I never missed a Las Palmas game on tele. I loved seeing the fans and the club's colours. It made a lasting impression on me."

Fukuda joins Las Palmas permanently from J2 club Vegalta Sendai.
