Johnson: Birmingham must buy experience

Birmingham City club captain Damien Johnson hopes the club can make some experienced signings in January.

The Northern Ireland international said: "It's all right having young lads, the legs and a bit of energy, but you still need a bit of experience just to close out games. It's a tight league.

"I think there is a bit more energy about us. Fabrice Muamba, for example, is a great athlete and he has got a good future with us.

"But we still need some older heads in there. There's a couple of us who have been about for a while. Maybe the manager might look to bring one or two more experienced players in. I don't know.

"But when January comes round, I'm sure he will want to bring his own players in and make a mark."
