Conte: Chelsea showed great heart to beat Leicester

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was delighted with how his side fought back on Tuesday night.

The Blues found themselves 2-0 down to Leicester City in the third round of the EFL Cup at the King Power Stadium before powering back to win 4-2, thanks to an extra-time double from Cesc Fabregas.

After the match, Conte admitted Chelsea were below their best in conceding twice to Shinji Okazaki but was comforted by the spirit his players showed in fighting back against a quality opponent.

"It was a typical English game," Conte said.

"It's incredible that after 30 minutes you are 2-0 down and then have a great reaction to score four goals and to go in the next round.

"If you ask me if I'm happy with the goals we conceded, I am not happy, but I saw a great reaction from my players and my team. This is very important because they showed a great heart and a will to win and go in the next round. It wasn't easy at 2-0 and after a defeat in the last game in the league.

"We know that we can improve, I repeat this. The only way I know is to continue to work very hard and to improve on different aspects. I am sure we can improve and I will try with all my strength to do this."

Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta responded for Chelsea after Okazaki's earlier double, forcing the game into extra-time, before Fabregas fired home twice in quick succession in the 92nd and 94th minutes to send the West Londoners through to the fourth round.
