Conor McAleny is targeting a first team call at Everton.
McAleny struck for the U21s in their 2-0 win over West Ham United on Thursday evening.
Speaking after the game, he told evertontv: "I was happy to get 60 minutes under my belt because I needed to get a good run out. It was great to get the goal and the win as well - it was a good night all round.
"Injuries are always frustrating, but it is football and you can't change it," he told evertontv. "I'm just happy to be back out there playing again and it's good to get some confidence back by scoring the goal.
"It was a great experience playing at Goodison in front of the fans a few weeks ago, and, now I'm back, I want to kick on from the performance here."
The Academy graduate also says there was extra motivation to impress from the stands as first team boss Roberto Martinez watched on.
"Obviously, every time he is watching, you want to impress and stay in his thoughts," he added.
