FC Tokyo have announced a formal offer has arrived from Chelsea for midfielder Yoshinori Muto. FC Tokyo president Naoki Ogane has confirmed a bid of over €5 million for the 22 year-old Japan international.

"It's true that Chelsea have made ??an offer. It is a formal offer for a summer acquisition," announced Ogane.

The operation has been ten months in the making, with Muto admitting he has been aware of Chelsea's interest for some time.

"I have not decided yet. It is an absolute honor for me that such a big club sends an offer," he added.

Should he move to Chelsea this summer, Muto is expected to be loaned to a European partner, potentially Vitesse Arnhem, for next season.
