Columbus Crew chief McCullers welcomes Warzycha deal

Columbus Crew are pleased coach Robert Warzycha has signed a new deal.

The former Everton star has inked a two-year contract with the option of a third.

"His record speaks for itself and he's done it under difficult circumstances," Crew general manager and president Mark McCullers told the Columbus Dispatch. "Taking over a championship team you really have no place to go but down . . . (Warzycha) has fielded a lot criticism for decisions that were collective decisions. We've had a ton of injuries this year and he's still been able to get results. I am extremely pleased.

"The way Sigi departed the organization made it more difficult for Robert. The whole situation was not easy for him. He's a class individual and he's a good person and he accepted it in stride."
