Colosimo tips Skoko to take A-League by storm with Melbourne Heart

Melbourne Heart captain Simon Colosimo believes midfielder veteran Josip Skoko will produce the goods in the A-League this season.

The former Australia international has returned to his homeland to play in the domestic league after a 15-year stint in Europe with Hajduk Split (Croatia), Genk (Belgium), Genclerbirligi (Turkey), Wigan Athletic, Stoke City (both England) before returning to Split in 2008.

Now, the 34-year old is set to unleash his talents on the A-League and Colosimo is excited about playing alongside him.

"I think if you went around and spoke to anyone who has played for the Socceroos in the past 10 years and ask them what they thought of Josip Skoko, they will tell you that he is in the top three Socceroos in that period," Colosimo told sportal.

"Skoks in training, it's like a clinic every time he gets the ball. You have to stop yourself from watching with your mouth open and say 'how wonderful?'"

Skoko admitted he felt a touch weird preparing for a season in Australia but was delighted to be a part of Australian football history with a brand new team.

"It is a little bit strange, especially being back here in Australia. It's interesting, it's a good challenge for us older guys and it's given a new opportunity for a few younger boys. I think it's good that Melbourne has a second team now," he said.
