Reigning MLS Cup winners Colorado Rapids have made a quality signing in the form of Republic of Ireland striker Caleb Folan.

The 28-year old will be added to the club's roster pending receipt of his P-1 Work Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Folan last played with Hull City in the English Championship in October last year and also spent time on loan with Middlesbrough in the 2009/10 season.

The Leeds-born forward kicked off his career with hometown club Leeds United in 2001 and since then has spent time with Rushden & Diamonds, Chesterfield and Wigan Athletic.

He has represented the Republic of Ireland, the country of birth of his grandparents, on seven occasions.
