Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren suggests Fabricio Coloccini will stay with the club this summer.
The Argentine centre-back has been linked with a move away from St James' Park in recent times with rumours that Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is keen to reunite with his former skipper.
But McClaren expects Coloccini to remain in a black and white shirt for this upcoming season as he continues to work his way back to full fitness from an achilles injury.
"We've had no official approach," McClaren told Sky Sports News HQ.
"Colo's been working with us on and off, nursing his Achilles at the present moment and getting through some work as well but he's been a first-class professional.
"I've come through the door, he's the captain and like everybody else we want to see him on the field and playing for this team."
Asked if he expected Coloccini to stay put with the Toon, McClaren replied: "I don't see why not."
