Cole departs West Ham

Joe Cole has announced that he has left West Ham United.

The 32-year old midfielder has finished his 18-month contract with the Hammers and is now on the hunt for a new club.

Cole began his career at Upton Park in 1998 before moving to Chelsea in 2003 and then onto Liverpool in 2010 after three Premier League titles with the Blues.

He spent time on loan with French club Lille in 2011/12 before returning to West Ham in January last year.

"I'm a free agent now and I'm looking for a new club," he told talkSPORT.

"My relationship with West Ham is great, but obviously it didn't work towards the end of this season and I didn't play enough.

"So, I'm just going to take my time over the summer and find the right fit.

"At this stage of my career, finances are not important for me. I want to enjoy my football, I want to compete and I just want to play more."
