Coates insists Stoke want Crouch stay

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates insists they want to keep Peter Crouch.

Coates re-iterated the club's determination to keep Crouch by offering him a new deal before his current contract expires in the summer.

He stated: "It's something we are working on because we are keen that Peter stays at the club.

"In his three-and-a-half years with us we have been very pleased with him. We all know he's a good player and an asset to us.

"He's a good team player too, one well liked by his colleagues, and he's always had a good profile because he gets a lot of mentions nationally, as he should given the status he has."
