Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has a great ability to work on a small budget according to club chairman Peter Coates.
The Welshman has spent the least amount on transfers of all the Premier League clubs in the past four transfer windows but has managed to get the Potters up to 10th on the league table this season.
Hughes signed a new contract last week and his work done since his arrival at the Britannia Stadium in the summer of 2013 has not been lost on Coates.
"That's to his credit. We had been heavy spenders in the early days in the Premier League as we wanted to make sure we stay up," Coates told Sky Sports News HQ.
"Mark inherited a good squad of players. He said that to me, he said he was surprised at the good set of players he's got.
"We've been fortunate to do some good business and brought in some good players at relatively low cost, you've got to be pleased with that as chairman of a Premier League club."
