Nathaniel Clyne admits Southampton's success has surprised him this season.
The stunning form of Dusan Tadic and fellow summer signing Graziano Pelle have meant the departures of the likes of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana are no longer being mourned by fans.
England full back Clyne said: "I was a bit surprised that all of our main players from last season were leaving.
"But as you can see, we've recruited well. The players we have brought in have suited the team. I think we look like a stronger team now than we were last season.
"We are going into each game trying to win. The gaffer has got it in her head, especially at home, that we can win against anyone."
