QPR and Fulham are battling for defensive midfielder Yacouba Sylla.
The People says the 22-year-old, a France Under-21 international, has produced the goods at French Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot.
Sylla's deal still has 18 months to run and French outfits Saint-Etienne and Valenciennes are also interested.
However, neither side will make their move until next summer, leaving the door open for QPR and Fulham when the transfer window opens.
Clermont Foot will listen to offers of around £750,000.
