Celta Vigo have confirmed Claudio Giraldez as coach for next season.

Giraldez stepped up from the B team after the sacking of Rafa Benitez and has successfully moved Celta away from the dropzone.

It's now been announced Giraldez has been handed a new deal to the end of next season.

He said today: “We took advantage of the break the week after Rayo to be able to talk in more detail. It was very fast and very easy. Both parties wanted the same thing. There hasn't been any problem.

“It is a very happy and very important day in my life."

Celta sports chief Marco Garces also said: “It is a way that I have of working, to arrange for a year. I have been doing it in my last clubs. I know I run the risk of Claudio becoming too expensive for me, but it will be a happy problem. I hope in a couple of months to be sitting down to talk about the renewal with his representative, with whom I talk more than with my wife."
