Former Chicago Fire star CJ Brown has been appointed as the clubs new assistant coach.
The 38-year old ex-defender, who is top of the all-time Fire appearance list with 296, has been hired by head coach Frank Yallop after three seasons as Jason Kreis' number two at Real Salt Lake.
"I have tremendous respect for CJ Brown as a player, having coached against him and those tough Fire teams for so many years," said Yallop.
"Watching him grow from one of the top defenders in MLS history to helping guide RSL with their tremendous recent success speaks volumes of his coaching style, character and connection with the guys in the locker room.
"CJ is the perfect choice not only for all his qualities as a coach, but also for what he means to this city and Club, and what they mean to him as well."
During his playing career, Brown represented the USA on 15 occasions while helping the Fire win the 1998 MLS Cup, 2003 Supporters' Shield and four Lamar Hunt US Open Cups. He was assistant coach of the RSL team which made it to the 2013 MLS Cup and US Open Cup finals and which finished runner-up in the 2010/11 CONCACAF Champions League.
