Mark Hughes believes Manchester City are in a good position to go far in Europe. The confidence-boosting 2-0 away win over German club Schalker has put them in a good position and Hughes wants his team to make the most of the good start.
"It is important that when we are in European competition that we make our mark," he said.
"We haven't done that many excursions into Europe in recent times. We've won two games now, six points already on the board.
"It would be very surprising if we dont go through to the next stage and that was always the goal this year.
"We want to continue in the competition and see how far we can go. It is important that Manchester City is in a position to compete in European matches on a regular basis and that is what we aim to do this year."
