Papiss Cisse is becoming a cult figure at Newcastle United according to manager Alan Padrew.
The Senegalese striker, who has netted 10 goals in nine appearances for the Toon, was today mobbed by fans after having a haircut at a local barber, signing autographs and posing for photos following his trim.
Pardew said he was not surprised by the reaction of the Geordie people as the former Freiburg ace has become a massive player for the club.
"I have never had it myself - only one or two turn up when I get my hair cut.
"Papiss has grown into a bit of a cult figure here in terms of what he has done and the way he has conducted himself.
"He is a lovely guy.
"The North East is a friendly place and I think they have welcomed him with open arms.""That sounds like the North East," Pardew said of the commotion around Cisse.
