Djibril Cisse is confident QPR won't get carried away after a raft of impressive new signings.
Mark Hughes' side avoided relegation on the final day last term but significant activity in the transfer market has raised expectations ahead of the new campaign.
"We are moving forward and improving all the time but it's only our second season in the Premier League so we can't set our targets too high," Cisse told the London Evening Standard.
"We deserve to be where we are but we are still growing as a team so staying up again this year is the first priority. That has to be the main objective - and not to be too greedy. Then after that, we will see. Mark [Hughes] deserves all the credit for keeping us in the Premier League last season and I trust him and Tony Fernandes. With them, the club can only go forward. There is a lot of potential. Tony is a winner and he is doing everything he can to bring in some players and build a good team."
