Cisse rejects Rooney claims of QPR collapse for Man City 2012 title win

Former QPR striker Djibril Cisse has rejected Wayne Rooney's claims regarding his old side's professionalism.

Rooney, whose Manchester United were beaten to the Premier League title on the last day of the 2011/2012 season, accused QPR of purposefully letting City win their final game.

QPR were battling relegation at the time, but lost to late City goals, with Sergio Aguero winning the title for his side.

The United legend told The Sun: "Paddy Kenny should have done better for a couple of the goals. City get the second goal and QPR kick it straight back to them and that's never been questioned - I find that strange.

"Djibril Cisse celebrating after the game with the City players, but yeah listen it's a historic moment in the Premier League so I'm sure that - if you are not involved as a Manchester United player, that's probably one of the greatest moments in the league."

Cisse told Lord Ping: "I understand why Wayne Rooney would question City's comeback against QPR that day. It was strange.

"Though it was up to Manchester United to win the league during the season and if they left it until the last day, that is not our fault. I like Rooney and feel his pain, but it wasn't up to us.

"They should have secured the win early on. For us, we were winning 1-0 and then we conceded a red card. We then conceded a goal in the last second, but trust me I was in the squad and no-one said: 'Let's lose the game for Manchester City.' I would have never let that happen.

"I love football too much and I am a professional."
