Cinquini urges Lazio to open chequebook

Ex-Lazio sporting director Oreste Cinquini has urged the club to strengthen the team.

"I just hope that people don't start to claim that they now don't need to buy after being eliminated from the Champions League," he stated after Tuesday night's 3-1 reverse at Real Madrid.

"All Lazio fans should just have faith that boss Delio Rossi is aware of the situation and he will certainly be able to tell the President what this side needs."

"I hear that [River Plate goalkeeper] Juan Pablo Carrizo won't arrive in January which means a decision needs to be made on whether they believe in Nestor Muslera or not," added Cinquini.

"They will also need to clarify the position of another young 'keeper in the shape of Tommaso Berni because it's a big risk to move forward with Marco Ballotta who is in his forties."
