Chongqing Lifan close in on Melbourne Victory's Leijer

Melbourne Victory have confirmed that Adrian Leijer is set to sign with Chongqing Lifan.

The Chinese Super League (CSL) outfit have approached the Victory regarding the proposed signing of the 28-year old centre-back who has played close to 180 times in the A-League.

Formerly captain of the Victory, Leijer has agreed terms with Chongqing and is currently on his way to China to undergo a medical prior to the CSL transfer window closing on February 27.

Leijer, who has previously spent time with Fulham and Norwich City, was part of the Victory squad that won the 2006/07 A-LeagueChampionship.

The one-time Australia international has appeared in 14 of 17 fixtures for Kevin Muscat's side so far this season which sees the Victory sitting second on the table.
