The in-form Chipperfield needs surgery for a urinary tract infection which will see him sidelined until January. In that time, the Socceroos face Bahrain in a World Cup qualifier (in Bahrain on 20 November) and his Swiss club FC Basel will play two UEFA Champions League group fixtures without their joint-leading scorer.
