Versatile Socceroo Scott Chipperfield is to undergo surgery and is likely to miss important matches for club and country. The in-form Chipperfield needs surgery for a urinary tract infection which will see him sidelined until January. In that time, the Socceroos face Bahrain in a World Cup qualifier (in Bahrain on 20 November) and his Swiss club FC Basel will play two UEFA Champions League group fixtures without their joint-leading scorer. The news is a blow to the Socceroos, especially given the 32-year old has been in sparkling touch with Basel and has been vitally important for his country in recent times.
