Former Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini hailed Fabio Miretti after he won Italy's Golden Boy on Monday night.

LAFC defender Chiellini praised the 19-year-old, who he played with last season.

“I think Fabio mirrors what has been done by Juventus [at a youth level], I texted him a few weeks ago when there were a few problems," said Chiellini.

“I am happy for him, he deserves all he is receiving.

"I hope other clubs will follow this project. Unfortunately, they haven't done it so far, but I see that young players who deserve it are being launched."
