Chicago Fire head coach Frank Yallop has confirmed that the club is in pursuit of Scotland international Shaun Maloney.
The 31-year old Wigan Athletic winger is on his way out at the DW Stadium this winter and is in line for a return to the Premier League according to reports.
Goal.com suggests Leicester City are leading the race for his signature ahead of rivals Everton, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Burnley but Yallop admits the Fire are also admirers of the former Celtic star.
"We've shown interest in Shaun," Yallop told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday.
"He's one of the players we targeted for this season there's no denying we have interest in him, just waiting to see where it goes."
Reports in the UK suggest that Maloney, who has made 37 international appearances, has agreed a transfer to Leicester who currently sit bottom of the Premier League table.
