Chicago Fire hand trial to Croatian midfielder Tapalovic

Chicago Fire will monitor Croatian midfielder Filip Tapalovic as he undergoes a week-long trial.

The 33-year old has been brought in by Fire head coach Carlos de los Cobos after recommendation by club directors and a decision will be made on him at the end of his trial.

"The directors told me to watch him," de los Cobos told MLSsoccer.com. "We will have him for all the week and after that we [will make] our conclusions."

Tapalovic has spent most of his career in Germany, enjoying stints with Bochum, Schalke, 1860 Munich and Carl Zeiss Jena as well as with Austrian club FC Wacker Tirol and most recently with Croatian outfit NK Rijeka where he last played in 2008.
